About Canouan

Of all the islands in the Grenadines, Canouan, just five
square miles in size, is the one that has seen the greatest changes
over the past few years. Formerly a community of some 700 farmers and
fishermen, with one sleepy hotel, the island is now home to one of the most
stunning resort developments in the region, the Canouan Resort.
Canouan Resort, with 156 rooms, is exclusive and offers world-class dining,
luxury accommodations, the Trump International Golf Club, an oceanfront
spa and a magnificent casino at the Ville Monte Carlo, positioned on the
highest point of the island. On the island’s east coast lies
wonderful Windward Bay, a large lagoon protected by a barrier reef with
great snorkelling. Cooling breezes sweep in from the Atlantic, the water is
crystal clear and the beaches boast the whitest sands one can imagine. There are also
superb beaches at Maho Bay in the north and Friendship Bay in the south.
Centrally located in the Grenadines, Canouan is within easy
reach of neighbouring Mayreau and the Tobago Cays, and with direct
flights from Barbados, Puerto Rico, and St. Vincent, visitors can now enjoy
painless air access. As Canouan has become moreand more popular with visitors,
the variety of amenities, restaurants and accommodation has grown and there
are now many excellent value guesthouses where visitors will be
assured of a warm welcome. But, in spite of all the development, the
principal settlement of Charlestown retains its distinctly Caribbean flavour
and has not lost an ounce of its island charm.
