Turtle Watching
From late March to October a select few visitors are lucky
enough to witness a remarkable event. Giant 1000lb+ leatherback
turtles arrive on the beach where they were born 25 to 30 years
previously to lay their eggs. Go on an excursion with the
Dominica Sea Turtle Conservation Organisation (DomSeTCO)
to see nesting mothers of all various species of turtle and upon
hatching, eager babies making their way to the sea. Call the Sea
Turtle Hotline (767) 616 8684 or the Division of Forestry, Wildlife
and Parks (767) 266 3817 for more information.
